YOGA + PRACTICE

Patañjali describes āsana simply:

sthira-sukham-āsanam

A posture that is steady and easeful.

— Yoga Sūtra 2.46

This page is an invitation to practise.

Yoga may be the foundation, but over time you may also find breathing exercises, yoga nidrā, meditation and other practices that invite us to slow down, pay attention and return to ourselves.

More and more, I'm beginning to see life itself as a practice rather than something to perfect.

A movement practice.

A strength practice.

A writing practice.

A spiritual practice.

A practice of learning, returning and beginning again.

These practices are here to help you care for the body that carries you through this life — the "meat suit" that allows us to experience this wonderfully human existence and do the fun stuff.

Whatever you choose, the invitation is always the same: get curious about how it feels.

Move.

Breathe.

Notice.

Find the sticky bits and hang out there for a moment. Wiggle around a little and see if the body and mind can find a bit more ease.

Over time, the practice becomes less about the shapes we make or the techniques we use, and more about cultivating steadiness, comfort and presence from the inside out.
